In this tutored course you review, practice or brush-up how to write your resume in Italian, make hypothesis, refine and maintain the language using more complex structures (i.e. subjunctive, direct/indirect construction...), handle discussions about theoretical topics, read books and newspapers in Italian, watch Italian videos, visit some recommended Italian websites, listen to the news in Italian.

 

Upon successful completion of the Advanced 2 you should be able to "...have no difficulty in understanding any kind of spoken language, whether live or broadcast, even when delivered at fast native speed, provided you have some time to get familiar with the accent... take part effortlessly in any conversation or discussion and have a good familiarity with idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms. You can express yourself fluently and convey finer shades of meaning precisely... present a clear, smoothly-flowing description or argument in a style appropriate to the context and with an effective logical structure which helps the recipient to notice and remember significant points" (standard definition taken from the Common European Framework Self-Evaluation).

 

This course is for students who have completed the Advanced 1 Tutored Course, or who have already studied Italian and are ready to start at Advanced 2 level.

Standard 8 Weeks
practice from 3 to 5 hours per week; includes 6 self-study lessons (complete one level), 4 assignments, audio/video classes, final exam

Intensive 6 Weeks
practice from 6 to 10 hours per week; includes 12 self-study lessons, 4 assignments, audio/video classes, final exam (in this format you complete both levels: advanced 1 and advanced 2)		 Extended 12 Weeks
practice from 3 to 5 hours per week; includes 10 self-study lessons (complete one level), 6 assignments, audio/video classes, final exam
  • Session 1:
    Introduction.
    Sing in Italian (listening and pronunciation exercise), review the basic-advanced structures of the Italian language.
    Assignment.
  • Session 2:
    Wanting to be a professor and talking about it with Montessori.
    Learn to refine your expressions. The subjunctive (part 1).
    Advanced lesson 7.
    Fixed-schedule Audio-Video Group Class.
  • Session 3:
    Wanting to be a scientist and talking about it with Galileo.
    Learn to maintain the language. The subjunctive (part 2).
    Advanced lesson 8.
    Assignment.
  • Session 4:
    Wanting to be a politician and talking about it with Machiavelli.
    Learn how to recognize different styles. Make ipothesys: if clauses.
    Advanced lesson 9.
    Fixed-schedule Audio-Video Group Class.
  • Session 5:
    What to do in life? Talking about it with Totò.
    Learn to report a conversation. Learn to maintain the practice of the language. Direct/indirect construction.

  • Session 1:
    Introduction.
    Sing in Italian (listening and pronunciation exercise). How to become rich and famous. Get ready for the Advanced level. Meaning of pronouns; meaning of verbs.
    Looking for a job and talking about it with Dante.
    Learn how to write a resume. "Infinito", "gerundio" and "participio"; verbs with prepositions; "diminutivi, peggiorativi". Advanced lesson 1.

  • Session 2:
    Wanting to be a sport champion and talking about it with Bartali.
    Learn to express yourself in a concise and effective way. Verbs with pronouns. Relative pronoun "cui" + the article.

    Revisione di tempi e modi verbali (indicativo). Forma attiva e passiva. Uso del verbo "venire" nella forma passiva. Collocazioni ed espressioni idiomatiche.

    Emotions and self-confidence.
    Revisione di tempi e modi verbali (condizionale e imperativo). Uso del condizionale per esprimere il futuro nel passato. Italiano per il lavoro 1 (saluti, formule standard, approccio formale). Costruzione diretta e indiretta.

  • Session 10:
    Anger and irritation.
    Review what you have learned in the Advanced Course.
    Revisione di tempi e modi verbali (infinito, participio e gerundio). Italiano per il lavoro 2 (congiuntivo, abbreviazioni). Differenza fra "sono contento di" e "sono contento che". Frasi ipotetiche.

  • Session 11:
    Our true nature: let's discover our potential and talents.
    Forma impersonale e stile linguistico personale (gerghi e dialetti). Italiano per la pubblicità, italiano per il giornalismo. Ripasso generale e dei punti più difficili. Collocazioni ed espressioni idiomatiche.
    Revision lesson 20.
    Assignment

    Revision.
