If you have a serious problem that prevents you from studying, please notify the teacher immediately (the teacher might contact your parents or the school to evaluate the situation).

Follow all the recommended steps and learning activities.

 

Fase 1 - Introduzione

• Get a notebook that you will use for your Italian studies. Have always a pen available. Taking notes and writing key-words can be very helpful in identifying the main concepts of a lesson and/or quickly reviewing them when you need. Also, writing a list of items (e.g. verbs) can be very helpful in memorizing it. Even if you study online, always keep a notebook and a pen near your computer, and take notes.
• IMPORTANT: This is an intensive course that requires you to practice regularly each week, at least 10 hours. Find the necessary time each day to study with calm and enjoyment. Keep up with the rhythm of the course, complete each week all required activities, lessons and assignments. If you have any doubts or questions regarding your study, email your teacher asap.

Fase 3 - Canzone = scoring not available (exercise your will power!)

• Rivedi come Praticare con le canzoni: 5 consigli per praticare con le canzoni
• IMPORTANT: during this course you need to listen to at least sixteen Italian songs (eight per semester) that you will learn, analyze, translate and sing.
  We provide songs to listen to in the educational material, so you do not need to choose the songs right now. If you wish, you can check the CyberItalian list of recommended songs and/or you can look for Italian songs and lyrics on the Internet (search on google or youtube).

 

Fase 4 - Film

• Rivedi come Praticare con film e video: 10 consigli per vedere un film in Italiano
• IMPORTANT: during this course, as part of the assignments or audio lessons, you will find links to short videos that you will have to comment. However, we recommend that instead of the videos you choose at least two Italian movies (one per semester) that you will watch, analyze and comment. A movie can give you a more complete experience compared to a video.
  To select the movie you want to watch, you can visit a movie-rental store near you or you can check the CyberItalian list of recommended movies or you can look for Italian movies on the Internet (search on google or youtube). SUGGESTION: first time watch the movie only in Italian, second time use subtitles in Italian, third, if you need, use subtitles in English, fourth time watch it again only in Italian without subtitles.

 

Fase 5 - Notizie

• IMPORTANT: each week you will be asked to listen to the Italian news (we provide the link to them) and to choose the one that you find more interesting. At first you might not be able to understand and pick specific news, but don't give up and do not feel discouraged. Do this exercise as requested, report a word or a sentence, but keep on listening to the news each week.

 

Fase 6 - Compito (assignment) = post in Class Forum to get score

 

Write in Italian a well-organized and coherent composition of at least 250 words, including all the following questions.

Imagine you are writing the composition to submit it to an Italian exam. You should time your work, take a few minutes to read the questions and organize your thoughts before you begin to write your composition.
Imagine you have a total of 60 minute time to complete the following assignment.

• Perché vuoi imparare l'italiano?
• Hai ascoltato la canzone in 5 consigli per praticare con le canzoni? Di cosa parla questa canzone? Ti è piaciuta? Perché? Nella canzone ci sono frasi che non capisci? Quali? Riporta una frase della canzone che ti ha colpito particolarmente. Spiega perché ti ha colpito. Hai cantato la canzone? Quante volte? Canti spesso? Ti piace cantare? Perché?
• Hai visto l'attività 10 consigli per vedere film in Italiano? Conosci dei film italiani? A volte guardi dei film italiani? Quando? Perché? Quale film italiano hai scelto di vedere questo semestre? Di cosa parla il film? Perché hai scelto questo film?
• Hai ascoltato il telegiornale in 5 consigli per ascoltare il telegiornale? Hai avuto difficoltà a capire? Perché? Quale notizia o parola ti ha interessato particolarmente? Riporta la notizia o la parola e spiega perché ti ha interessato.

  Cosa pensi di questo testo? Ti interessa? Non ti interessa? Perché? Cosa impara l'autore a memoria? Tu a volte studi a memoria? Ti piace? Perché?

• Scrivi una nota all'insegnante per spiegare qual è la tua strategia per imparare qualcosa a memoria (scrivi le cose da imparare? Le canti? Le registri? ecc...) Rivolgiti all'insegnante con un approccio formale.

• Dai consigli ai tuoi amici per imparare a memoria. Rivolgiti ai tuoi amici con un approccio INformale.

IMPORTANT: Use a text editor (like Microsoft Word) to write assignments. In this way you do not run the risk to lose your work if there is a connection failure. When your assignment is complete, copy it and paste it from the text editor into the Class Forum message. Post only 1 assignment in the Class Forum including all the above questions.
