L’espressione italiana “abboccare all’amo” è usata in senso idiomatico quando una persona cade in un tranello o non si accorge che le stanno facendo uno scherzo.
Alcuni pesci sono furbi e non abboccano all’amo, non si fanno pescare.

The Italian expression “abboccare all’amo” (to take the bait) is used in an idiomatic sense when someone falls into a trap or does not realize that people are playing a joke on them.
